Inbox placement tests

Warmerly

A test per mailbox; accuracy is limited, with no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet

lemlist

Tests at 100 credits each, with results by provider

The short answer

Inbox placement tests, in one look.

lemlist runs inbox placement tests inside its Deliverability Hub at 100 credits each, with results by provider, and advises 1 to 2 a month. Warmerly has a placement test per mailbox, but it has no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet, so most tests run against its own warmup pool and are less accurate. lemlist is ahead here. How Warmerly does it

Warmerly, in detail.

A placement test per mailbox, with limited accuracy until real seeds exist. Warmerly labels a test run against its own pool as such and keeps it out of health scores.

01

What a test does

It sends one message to up to 4 targets, 2 on the same provider and 2 on another, and after a short wait checks INBOX, Promotions, Spam and Junk over IMAP. Inbox scores 100, promotions 60, spam 10 and missing 0, averaged.

02

How long it takes

A test started from the dashboard waits a fixed 30 seconds before reading the targets, so a run with four targets takes about 45 to 60 seconds. The result is stored even if you close the page.

03

No dedicated seed list yet

Real measurement needs seed mailboxes at Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo. On 15 October 2026 the table that holds them had never held a real row in production, so tests fall back to Warmerly's own pool.

04

A degraded run is labelled and contained

Warmerly's own pool mailboxes accept almost everything, so a run against them scores near 100 whatever the sender's reputation. The account page shows a Limited accuracy note, and such a run never writes health data, never feeds the spam score and never raises the mailbox's sending quota.

05

A second source of real targets, switched off

Code exists to use consenting Gmail and Outlook mailboxes of other customers in the warmup network as targets. Its switch is off by default and the document says it has not been run against production.

06

How many

Monthly test allowances are 3 on Free, 5 on Starter, 25 on Growth and 100 on Agency. A daily sweep tests up to 5 mailboxes and skips any mailbox tested in the last 24 hours.

How lemlist does it

lemlist, in detail.

Tests are run on demand from the Deliverability Hub and cost credits. The article treats placement as the main reputation signal once campaigns are live.

06

Credits and what they buy

The pricing page lists a lead data enrichment add-on of 2,000 credits a month for $20 monthly ($16 yearly), which it describes as 400 emails or 100 phone numbers. The FAQ says credits pay for data features and roll over while the subscription is active. How many credits each plan includes is not stated.

What lemlist does not say

We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.

  • How lemlist picks its test inboxes, and the accuracy of its results.
  • How many inboxes or recipients one test uses.
  • How many credits each plan includes, and the price of a credit outside the add-on bundle.
  • Which providers are covered beyond Google, Microsoft and SMTP/IMAP.

In practice

What it means for you.

Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.

1

Reading a result

Treat a Warmerly test as a rough check. A degraded run never changes health, and the account page says Limited accuracy.

2

Credits

lemlist's tests spend the same credits as enrichment, so frequent testing has a cost.

3

What 100 credits is worth

At the enrichment add-on's list rate of $20 for 2,000 credits, 100 credits is $1.00, so the advised 1 to 2 tests a month is $1 to $2 of credits, or 100 to 200 of the 2,000. That is arithmetic on a different product's price, since lemlist does not say what credits cost on the plan itself. The honest cost of a test is small. The question is whether the result is worth reading.

4

Scoring a sample by hand

Suppose a Warmerly test with four targets finds two messages in the inbox, one in Promotions and one in spam. The score is (100 + 100 + 60 + 10) divided by 4, which is 67.5. That is one average, so it cannot show that Gmail was fine and Outlook was not. lemlist's per provider breakdown can, which is the main reason it is ahead on this row.

5

Why the score near 100 means little

Warmerly's warmup pool mailboxes accept almost everything, so a degraded test returns about 100 even for a sender with a poor reputation. The Limited accuracy note is there for that reason. Until seeds at the big providers exist, use the result to confirm that sending works, not to prove inbox placement.

6

How often to test

lemlist says 1 to 2 a month, no more. Warmerly's allowance is 5 a month on Starter and 25 on Growth, and a daily sweep also tests up to 5 mailboxes. More tests are possible on Warmerly, but with a pool that is mostly its own, more tests do not add much information.

lemlist is the better fit if

  • You want results by provider and are happy to spend credits.
  • You want placement trends beside bounce and spam data.
  • You want to attach a test to a campaign step and test the content you actually send.

Questions
How accurate is Warmerly's placement test?

Limited for now: with no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list it tests against Warmerly's own warmup pool, and the page says so. lemlist's tests cost 100 credits and report by provider.

Does a Warmerly placement test change my sending limits?

A run against Warmerly's own pool never does: it does not write health data and cannot raise the quota. A run against real seeds would feed the spam score, which can lower a mailbox's warmup quota.

How much does a lemlist placement test cost?

100 credits each, per its Deliverability Hub article, which advises 1 to 2 a month. It does not say how many credits each plan includes.

How long does a placement test take?

On Warmerly about 45 to 60 seconds from the dashboard. In lemlist results are typically ready within a few minutes and show Pending until then.

Which providers does lemlist report?

The article names Google, Microsoft and SMTP/IMAP, and for each whether the message landed in the inbox, the tabs, spam or went missing. It does not list others.
