Sequence builder and conditions, in one look.
Warmerly's canvas branches on replied, clicked, opened or a timeout, and builds the LinkedIn connection check in. Closely's builder has four conditions, if connected, if email found, if email opened and if email clicked, each with a yes and a no branch. Last checked 22 October 2026.

Drawn side by side.
What you can branch on
Conditions each builder lists
Closely branches on LinkedIn state and on whether an email was found. Warmerly branches on what happened to the email and builds its connection check in.
What a reply or a bounce does
The default on each side
Closely's help article says a reply stops the sequence by default and that this cannot currently be changed.
Warmerly, in detail.
A drag-and-drop canvas with a condition step that branches on replied, clicked, opened or a timeout, mixed with email, LinkedIn and wait steps. LinkedIn rules like waiting for a connection are built in, not drawn as a branch.
One condition step, four outcomes
A condition step waits for a set time and races the outcomes against each other. A reply wins first, then a click, then an open, and if the time runs out with nothing matched the timeout edge fires (or the default edge). The opened and clicked outcomes are read from the lead's latest email. The step is checked once per engine tick.

Only the canvas makes branches
Branching sequences are built in the drag-and-drop canvas. The simpler list editor handles linear sequences only: email, wait, LinkedIn connection, LinkedIn message and WhatsApp message. If a sequence has a condition, the list editor refuses to show it rather than flatten it.

LinkedIn rules are built in
Before a LinkedIn message step the engine checks whether the lead is now a first-degree connection. If not, it re-checks every 6 hours and skips the lead 21 days after the invitation. You cannot draw an alternative path from that check, for example to switch to email when an invitation is ignored.

A reply stops the sequence by default
A genuine reply stops the lead's sequence by default, and unsubscribes go on a workspace-wide suppression list that every step respects.

Where Warmerly is behind
We found no condition on whether a lead is connected, has an open profile, followed you or visited your profile, and no branch on a missing email address. A lead who never accepts cannot be sent down a different path by a rule you draw.

Waits are set in days or hours
A wait is one row, Wait N days or hours before the next step, with chips for 1 day, 3 days and 1 week. A condition step has its own wait, the window in which a reply, click or open can win before the timeout edge fires.

A/B copy on email steps
An email step can hold up to 4 subject and body variants. Once every variant has reached the minimum sample you set and its latest send is at least 24 hours old, a winner is chosen: the highest reply rate wins, and opens decide only if nobody replied. Auto-responders are not credited.

A reply stops the lead by default, as a setting
Stop on reply is a campaign setting, and an auto-reply can be treated separately from a genuine reply. A lead who replies is taken out of the remaining steps unless you turn that off.

The editors share one saved format
The canvas and the list editor read and write the same steps and edges, so switching between them swaps the screen and not the data. The list editor refuses to show a branching sequence instead of flattening it.

Closely, in detail.
A conditional sequence builder on every plan, with four conditions and a delay between steps, mixing LinkedIn and email actions in one flow. Its own pages describe A/B tests for message copy and steps triggered by prospect activity.
Four conditions
If connected, if email found, if email opened and if email clicked, each with a Yes and a No outcome. Opened and clicked need click tracking switched on.

Added automatically
Adding a connection request adds If connected, and adding a find email step adds If found. Both can be deleted. The Immediately delay is the default.

Limits
If connected, if email found, if email opened and if email clicked are not available for My Network campaigns. The wording of the once-only rule for some steps is unclear.

Trigger on activity
Its LinkedIn page says steps can be triggered by prospect activity such as profile views or post likes, and its multichannel page says LinkedIn and email combine in one flow.

Replies and bounces
A reply stops the sequence. An autoreply or bounce stops only the email steps, and the LinkedIn steps continue.

Which actions live where
A LinkedIn account offers connection request, view profile, like post, send message, endorse skills, find email and if connected. An email account offers send email, if email opened and if email clicked. Send message and endorse skills are available only once you are connected to the lead.

Not for My Network campaigns
All four conditions are unavailable in My Network campaigns. If email found can be used once per campaign and only after a find email step, and the opened and clicked conditions need click tracking switched on and a send email step before them.

A/B tests for message copy
Its home page lists A/B tests for message copy, dynamic variables and human review for AI-personalised messages. The multichannel page does not mention A/B testing, so the claim rests on the home page alone and the pages we read do not say how many variants or how a winner is chosen.

Smart delays
Its multichannel page says it times LinkedIn outreach with smart or intelligent delays and gives no durations or settings. The help article mentions only an Immediately delay, which is the default and can be deleted.

The article is from November 2024
The conditions article is dated 7 November 2024, so newer conditions may exist that it does not list. It is the only page we found that lists them by name.

What Closely does not say
We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.
- A condition on replied or on a timeout
- A branch on a missing email address beyond if email found
- Delay options beyond Immediately, and the length of a Smart Delay
- How many steps a sequence can hold
- A condition on an invitation being ignored for a set time, apart from If connected
Where the sources disagree
We report each version rather than pick one.
- Closely's article says some steps can be added only once, and the wording does not make clear which; we do not report a count.
- Closely's home page lists A/B tests for message copy and its multichannel page does not; we count it as stated because the home page says so.
Only what we could verify.

What it means for you.
Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.
Closely lets you branch on LinkedIn state
You can send a lead down a different path if they did not accept. Warmerly's connection check cannot be branched on.
Warmerly branches on what happened to the email
Replied, clicked, opened or a timeout, raced in that order.
The 21 day arithmetic
Warmerly re-checks an unanswered invitation every 6 hours, which is 4 checks a day and 84 over the 21 days before the lead is dropped. You cannot send that lead down an email path meanwhile. At Closely you can draw an If connected branch with a No path, so you choose what happens and when, using a delay of your own.
One email, four ways to test it
A Warmerly email step with 4 variants and a minimum sample of, say, 50 each needs 200 sends before a winner can be picked, plus 24 hours after the last of them. That is a worked example of the rule, not a recommended figure. Closely's pages we read give no equivalent rule.
What a find-email branch looks like
At Closely a find email step adds an If email found condition by itself, with a Yes and a No path you can draw as you like, and you can delete the condition. We found no equivalent branch on a missing address in Warmerly's sequence editor.
A sequence that has to survive a bounce
At Closely a bounce or autoreply stops the email steps and the LinkedIn steps continue. A Warmerly sequence is a single path with branches only where you draw them, and a bounce feeds the reputation brake that slows the sender.
Pick the one that fits.
Warmerly is the better fit if
- You want branches on replies, clicks and opens
- You want sends to follow a reputation brake
- You want to branch on whether an email was opened, clicked or answered within a set time
- You want up to 4 email variants with a winner chosen by reply rate
- You want a sequence stopped on reply, with auto-replies handled separately
Closely is the better fit if
- You want to branch on whether a lead accepted your connection request
- You want to branch on whether an email was found
- You want to branch on whether a lead accepted a connection request and what to do when they did not
- You want a branch on whether an email address was found
- You want steps triggered by prospect activity such as profile views or post likes
What conditions does Closely have?
Four: if connected, if email found, if email opened and if email clicked. Opened and clicked need click tracking switched on.
Can I branch on whether someone accepted a connection on Warmerly?
No. Warmerly's engine checks the connection before a LinkedIn message and re-checks every 6 hours, but you cannot draw a branch from that check.
Does Closely have A/B testing?
Its home page lists A/B tests for message copy. The multichannel page does not mention them, and the pages we read give no variant count.
Can Closely branch on a reply?
Not as a condition we found. A reply stops the sequence, and the four conditions are if connected, if email found, if opened and if clicked.
How does Warmerly choose an A/B winner?
After every variant has reached your minimum sample and its latest send is at least 24 hours old, the variant with the highest reply rate wins. If there are no replies, opens decide.
