Placement test, in one look.
Warmup Inbox offers a free deliverability test with no signup: you send your own email to its seed addresses and it reports where each copy landed at Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud and other major providers. Warmerly runs a placement test from each mailbox on demand and daily, but today it has no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list, so every test falls back to Warmerly's own mailboxes and is labelled Limited accuracy. On measuring where your mail lands, Warmup Inbox is ahead, and we say so plainly. Last checked 21 October 2026.

What it looks like.

Warmerly, in detail.
A per-mailbox test of Inbox, Promotions, Spam and Junk, run on demand and in a daily sweep, with an honest label when it can only use Warmerly's own mailboxes.
What a test does
It sends one message from the mailbox's own SMTP to up to 4 targets, 2 at the sender's own provider and 2 at others, with the subject [Warmerly placement] and an id. After a wait of 30 seconds on demand or 90 in the daily sweep, it checks Inbox, Promotions, Spam and Junk over IMAP.

How a result is scored
Inbox scores 100, promotions 60, spam 10 and missing 0, and the results are averaged. It looks at folders and not at filters: we found no SpamAssassin, Barracuda or similar score in the placement code.

No dedicated seed list yet
Real measurement needs seed mailboxes at Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo. A check on 15 October 2026 found none in production, so every test falls back to Warmerly's own mailboxes. The non-degraded rows in production are demo data, not real runs.

Why a fallback result is not a measurement
Our own mailboxes accept essentially everything, so a fallback test scores close to 100 whatever the sender's real result. The app labels it Limited accuracy, never uses it to change health, and only shows a trend when the two latest tests are the same kind.

Real-mailbox seeds, built and off
A setting that would use consenting Gmail or Outlook mailboxes of other customers already in the warmup network is built and off by default. The doc says it was never run against production or a live Gmail or Outlook mailbox.

How many and how often
An on-demand run takes about 45 to 60 seconds from the mailbox Health tab. A daily sweep tests up to 5 mailboxes, skipping any tested in the last 24 hours. Allowances are 3 tests a month on Free, 5 on Starter, 25 on Growth and 100 on Agency.

Warmup Inbox, in detail.
A free, no-signup deliverability test that sends your email to seed inboxes at four named providers, plus Spam and Category monitoring on Basic and an email reputation check.
The free test, step by step
You copy the test addresses shown, send your email to all of them, paste the code into the email body, and click Get Your Score. The report shows the provider and whether each copy reached the primary inbox, promotions or spam.

Providers covered
Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and iCloud, plus other major providers. The page says the test measures actual placement instead of predicting it from your email content, and sends to seed inboxes separate from your live sends.

No signup, no card
Both test pages say the test runs with no signup and no card. The page data prices it at 0.00 USD, described as Free Version, which could mean a paid version exists. The page does not say so.

What the report checks
The placement test page's structured data says inbox placement by provider plus SPF, DKIM, DMARC, blacklist and content checks. The test page text lists two things: the provider and the placement.

Placement in the product
Basic includes spam and category monitoring, an email reputation check and dashboards. The home page shows a split of Primary, Promotions and Spam. How this is measured inside the product is not described.

Audit and reputation tools
The tools menu lists a deliverability audit, a reputation checker, a spam checker and a spam words checker, and there is a deliverability action plan described as a personalised fix list. It offers a free 30-minute call with a deliverability expert.

What Warmup Inbox does not say
We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.
- The number of seed inboxes behind the free test, or the full list of providers beyond the four named
- How long results take, or how many times a day you can run the test
- What the score on the report is, or how it is calculated
- Whether the free test sees Promotions at Gmail, which uses category tabs rather than folders
- How placement is measured inside the product dashboard, or how accurate it is
- How the content you send to the test is handled or stored
Where the sources disagree
We report each version rather than pick one.
- The placement test page's structured data says inbox placement plus SPF, DKIM, DMARC, blacklist and content checks, while its text says the report shows two things: provider and placement.
- The placement test page is titled Email Deliverability Test, and a second page at tools/email-deliverability-test describes the same kind of test with its own wording.
- The page says See exactly where your emails land, in 60 seconds, and its FAQ gives no time to a result.
Only what we could verify.

What it means for you.
Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.
This is a real gap
A placement test is only as good as its seeds. Warmup Inbox's free test points at inboxes at real providers. Ours, today, points at our own mailboxes, which accept almost everything. That is why we label it Limited accuracy and do not use it to change health.
Use the free test either way
You do not need to be a customer of either tool to run Warmup Inbox's test, and it needs no signup. It is a reasonable second opinion on any mailbox, including one warmed with Warmerly. Run it from the mailbox you actually send from.
A seed test is one point in time
A single test says where one message went on one day, and a Gmail promotions result is a category tab, not a folder. Neither company's pages say how many test runs it takes to trust a result. Repeat the test before acting on one.
What Warmerly does with a result
A fallback result is excluded from the spam score and the capacity quota, so it cannot lower your warmup volume. That protects you from a misleading number, and it also means the daily sweep is not telling you about your real placement yet.
Placement is not the whole job
Where mail lands depends on authentication, reputation, content and list quality, all of which Warmup Inbox's own page lists. Warmerly's DNS and blocklist checks cover the first two, and are described on their own page in this comparison.
Pick the one that fits.
Warmerly is the better fit if
- You accept a placement test that is labelled limited for now
- You want placement tests inside the same dashboard as warmup and campaigns
- You want a test result that cannot lower your warmup volume by mistake
- You want a published scoring rule of 100, 60, 10 and 0
- You will use a free external test for a second opinion
Warmup Inbox is the better fit if
- You want to see where mail lands at Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and iCloud
- You want a test with no signup and no card
- You want a deliverability audit and a reputation checker beside warmup
- You want a free call with a deliverability expert
- You want placement monitoring on Basic from the first day
Does Warmerly have a placement test?
Yes, on demand and daily from each mailbox. It has no dedicated seed list yet, so tests fall back to Warmerly's own mailboxes and are labelled Limited accuracy.

How many placement tests does Warmerly include?
3, 5, 25 and 100 a month by plan, with up to 4 targets per test.
How does Warmerly score a test?
