Inbox placement tests

One row, in depth: what each tool does, the verified numbers, and who each suits.

Folderly details read from its pricing page, overview, home page, product sites, terms, privacy policy and help centre on 21 October 2026.

A placement test to up to 4 targets; accuracy is limited, as there is no dedicated seed list yet.

Folderly

Inbox Insights tests Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo: 2 free tests a month, or 100 a month for $79.

The short answer

Inbox placement tests, in one look.

Warmerly runs a placement test to up to 4 targets, but with no dedicated seed list yet its accuracy is limited, and the app says so. Folderly's Inbox Insights tests where a message lands in Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo, with 2 free tests a month or 100 a month for $79. Folderly is ahead here. Last checked 22 October 2026.

How Warmerly does it

Warmerly, in detail.

A built-in test, honest about its limits.

01

What a test does

It sends one message to up to 4 targets, waits 30 seconds on demand or 90 in the daily sweep, checks Inbox, Promotions, Spam and Junk over IMAP and scores each result.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

02

No dedicated seed list yet

Real measurement needs seed mailboxes at Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo. The doc's check on 2026-10-15 found none in production, so every test falls back to Warmerly's own mailboxes.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

03

Limited accuracy is shown

A fallback test scores close to 100 whatever the sender's real result, so the app labels it Limited accuracy and never uses it to change health.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

04

Allowances

Free has 3 placement tests a month, Starter 5, Growth 25 and Agency 100.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

05

How a result becomes a score

Each target scores inbox 100, promotions 60, spam 10 and missing 0, and the test averages them. The targets are up to 2 on the sender's own provider and up to 2 on another.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

06

A daily sweep with a cap

A daily job tests at most 5 mailboxes per run and skips any mailbox tested in the last 24 hours. A run left in the running state for over 20 minutes is marked failed.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

07

Running one from the dashboard

A test from the Health tab takes about 45 to 60 seconds with four targets. It is stored even if you close the browser, and the page shows staged progress while it runs.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

08

Degraded runs never touch health

A fallback run is flagged as degraded. It never writes a health score, never feeds the spam score or the sending allowance, and a trend is shown only when the last two tests are the same kind.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

09

What production looked like on 15 October 2026

The doc records that the table of dedicated seed mailboxes was still empty in production, and that the only non-degraded rows were demo data. No real Gmail or Outlook placement had been measured by a customer test.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

10

A second target source, switched off

A source that uses consenting warmup-network mailboxes of other customers is built behind a switch that is off by default. It reads only the Message-ID header, caps use at 2 per customer a day, and has not been run against a real Gmail or Outlook mailbox. Whether Gmail shows Promotions as an IMAP folder is unproven.

What Folderly does not say

We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.

  • How placement is measured
  • The sample size or number of seed inboxes
  • How often scheduled tests run
  • How accurate the results are
  • How long a test takes
  • How often a test can be run
  • What the sender score is drawn from
  • Whether the free test uses the same seeds as paid tests

Where the sources disagree

We report each version rather than pick one.

  • The pricing page shows $799 for the yearly option without a period. The test page says $799 per year with a saving of $149, which fits $79 over 12 months ($948 less $799).

In practice

What it means for you.

Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.

1

Keep a separate tester if placement is your main worry

Until Warmerly has a dedicated seed list, a tool built for placement gives a firmer answer.

2

Ask how Folderly measures it

Its pages do not say how placement is measured or how large the sample is.

3

Reading a Warmerly score

With 4 targets, if 2 land in the inbox, 1 in promotions and 1 in spam, the score is (100 + 100 + 60 + 10) / 4 = 67.5. A result from a fallback run is labelled Limited accuracy and is not used for health.

4

A year of Folderly tests against monthly billing

Twelve months at $79 is $948. The yearly option is $799, a saving of $149, or about 15.7% by arithmetic, in line with the Save 15% label. At 100 tests a month, $79 is $0.79 a test.

5

How long the sweep takes to cover a fleet

The daily sweep tests at most 5 mailboxes per run. With 25 mailboxes, a given one is reached every 5 days at the fastest. On-demand tests from the Health tab are not limited by the sweep.

6

Two free tests or three

Warmerly's Free plan includes 3 tests a month and Folderly's Inbox Insights free tier 2. The count matters less than what the test measures, and Warmerly's are currently limited in accuracy.
