SPF, DKIM, DMARC and blocklist checks
One row, in depth: what each tool does, the verified numbers, and who each suits.

SPF, DKIM, DMARC and blocklist checks, in one look.
Both check SPF, DKIM and DMARC and look for blocklistings. Warmerly publishes how often (every six hours), what it checks inside each record and the exact fix. Mailreach lists the checks in its plans and does not say how often they run. Last checked 22 October 2026.

What it looks like.

Warmerly, in detail.
Scheduled record and blocklist checks across named zones, with a written fix for each finding and honest handling of checks that could not run.
Checked every six hours
The records sweep runs every six hours, so four times in 24 hours, across every mailbox that is not dead or paused. A Re-check now option is on the mailbox Health tab.

A written fix for each finding
Each finding has a title, an explanation and a fix. SPF is checked for the 10-lookup limit, DKIM for key length and test mode, DMARC for policy and reporting address.

Domain and IP blocklists
Domains and sending IPs are looked up against published blocklist zones, such as Spamhaus, and a listing raises an alert.

Unknown is never green
A check that could not run is shown as unknown, not as fine.

Free DMARC report collection
Point your DMARC reporting address at a Warmerly address to see who sends as your domain and whether they pass, for up to 10 domains per workspace. Email digests and alerts for these reports are not built.

Sixteen named zones
Six domain zones (Spamhaus DBL, SURBL, URIBL, NordSpam, Spam Eating Monkey and s5h) and ten IP zones (Spamhaus ZEN, SpamCop, Barracuda, PSBL, Mailspike, NordSpam, Spam Eating Monkey, Lashback, DroneBL and GBUdb) are queried by plain DNS lookup.

Three lists left out on purpose
SORBS (shut down in 2024), UCEPROTECT (pay to delist) and Invaluement (subscription only) are excluded, with the reasons written in the file.

A refusal is not a listing
Some lists answer a refused query with a code in the same range as a real listing. Each zone classifies its own codes, and anything unrecognised is shown as an error, so being rate limited never reports a customer as blacklisted.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
Coverage is shown, not only status
A clean result on every list and a clean result on the few that answered are stored differently, and a partial answer shows amber with the count.

Mail provider hosts are not checked
A mailbox on Gmail or Outlook has no server of its own to look up, so provider hosts and shared consumer domains are marked not applicable instead of being graded against records the customer cannot change.

The exact record to publish
Under a failing SPF or DMARC check the card shows the record to add, merged into the SPF record already published, and never a second SPF record.

What Mailreach does not say
We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.
- How often the plan's health checks run
- Which blacklists are checked
- What ETS stands for
- Whether findings come with a written fix
- Whether checks run without a spam test being started
- Whether DMARC reports are collected
- How a failing record is explained to the user
Where the sources disagree
We report each version rather than pick one.
- Its help centre covers setting up SPF and DKIM records but does not say whether the product checks them on a schedule.
Only what we could verify.

What it means for you.
Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.
Both cover the basics
If SPF, DKIM, DMARC and blocklists are all you need, the difference is how much each tells you. Warmerly shows the exact record to add.
Ask about the schedule
Mailreach does not publish how often its health checks run.
One domain, many mailboxes
A domain that backs 25 mailboxes costs one domain blocklist query per sweep, not 25, and its owner gets one alert rather than 25. A provider server that backs 50 mailboxes costs one IP query. This is how checks stay frequent without hammering the lists.
Counting SPF lookups
SPF allows 10 DNS lookups. A record with four include statements that each expand to three more lookups spends 12 and breaks, so mail can fail authentication even though every include looks fine. Warmerly counts this recursively and says so; a checker that only tests presence would pass it.
Four looks a day
Records are checked every six hours, so four times in 24 hours. For a mailbox that changes DNS on a Friday afternoon, the first alert can come that evening and not the following Monday. Mailreach does not state its schedule, so ask before you rely on it.
Reading a clean result
If 3 lists answered and 10 refused, the honest result is clean on 3. Warmerly shows that count. Whether Mailreach reports partial coverage is not stated, so treat a bare tick from any tool as a question about coverage.
Pick the one that fits.
Warmerly is the better fit if
- You want the exact record to publish
- You want a known schedule
- You want free DMARC report collection
- You want the number of lists checked and which ones
- You want a check that could not run to show as unknown
- You want an SPF record merged for you, not a lecture about it
Mailreach is the better fit if
- You want checks bundled with a spam test
- You want reverse DNS and domain age in the same report
- You are happy to read a report and fix records yourself
- You want DNS, domain age and blacklist checks inside each spam test
- You want free SPF and DKIM checker pages
- You want reverse DNS covered by name
Does Mailreach check SPF, DKIM and DMARC?
Yes. Its all-in-one plan lists domain and inbox health checks for blacklist, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and ETS, and its spam test checks the same records (mailreach.co/pricing, read 21 October 2026). It does not say how often the checks run.
How often does Warmerly check my records?
Every six hours per mailbox, with a Re-check now button on the mailbox Health tab.
Which blocklists does Warmerly check?
Six domain lists and ten IP lists, including Spamhaus, SURBL, URIBL, SpamCop, Barracuda and Mailspike, by DNS lookup. SORBS, UCEPROTECT and Invaluement are left out for stated reasons.
Does Mailreach say which blacklists it checks?
No. It says the spam test checks whether the domain or mail server IP is blacklisted, and names no lists (read 22 October 2026).
Does Warmerly alert on every DNS warning?
No. It alerts on hard failures only. Advisories, such as a monitor only DMARC policy, show on the card but never raise an alert.
