Placement test
One row, in depth: what each tool does, the verified numbers, and who each suits.

A placement test per mailbox; accuracy is limited, as there is no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet.
A test network of real inboxes across Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Outlook and Yahoo, with 10 tests on Starter.
Placement test, in one look.
Warmerly's placement test has limited accuracy because it has no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet, while Mailivery's test sends to a network of real inboxes, so Mailivery is ahead here. Mailivery's placement test sends your email to a test network of real inboxes at Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Outlook and Yahoo, with 10 tests on Starter. Warmerly's test scores each result for a mailbox, but its accuracy is limited because it has no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet. Last checked 22 October 2026.

How a test runs
The steps each page describes
Mailivery's pages do not say how many accounts are in the test network or who owns them.
What it looks like.

Warmerly, in detail.
A real test with a score per target and a plain label when the targets are our own mailboxes. It is built to avoid overstating itself, and today it measures less than Mailivery's test network.
What a test does
It sends one message to up to 4 targets, waits 30 seconds on demand or 90 in the daily sweep, checks Inbox, Promotions, Spam and Junk over IMAP and scores each result.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
No dedicated seed list yet
Real measurement needs seed mailboxes at Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo. The doc's check on 2026-10-15 found none in production, so every test falls back to Warmerly's own mailboxes.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
Limited accuracy is shown
A fallback test scores close to 100 whatever the sender's real result, so the app labels it Limited accuracy and never uses it to change health.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
Allowances
Free has 3 placement tests a month, Starter 5, Growth 25 and Agency 100.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
The score is simple
Each target scores 100 for the inbox, 60 for Promotions, 10 for Spam and 0 when the message is missing, and the test shows the average.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
The sweep is capped
The daily sweep tests at most 5 mailboxes a run and skips any mailbox tested in the last 24 hours. A run left running for over 20 minutes is marked failed.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
On demand in the app
A test started from a mailbox's Health tab holds the request open for about 45 to 60 seconds with four targets, shows a staged progress panel, and still finishes and saves if the browser leaves.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
Limited accuracy never moves health
A test that fell back to Warmerly's own mailboxes returns before it writes any health figure, so an inflated score cannot raise a mailbox's sending quota. Trend changes are shown only between tests of the same kind.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
Real-mailbox targets are built but off
A mode that would use consenting Gmail and Outlook mailboxes from the warmup network exists in code behind a switch that is off. It has not been run against production, so we do not count it.
Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026
Who can run how many
The monthly allowance is 3 on Free, 5 on Starter, 25 on Growth and 100 on Agency, on the plans page.

Mailivery, in detail.
A placement test that is part of a wider audit, sold as included with every plan, with recurring tests and a copy-paste mode for mail sent from other tools. Its test network is not described, and its own pages give two sets of credit counts.
Real inboxes across providers
The page says the test goes to real inboxes across Gmail, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Yahoo and other major providers, and shows primary, promotions or spam.

Two sending modes
Connected mode uses mailboxes connected to Mailivery. Copy-paste mode works with any external platform, with no integration.

Five layers in one report
The page describes placement results, domain and IP health, authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), spam filters and blacklists, each with fix instructions. It gives an example fix: a missing DKIM record for a subdomain.

Content scored twice
Content is scored against a cold outreach model and a marketing spam model, because it says spam triggers differ by use case.

Credit packs
Extra credits are sold as a monthly pack, with 100 credits for $25 a month, which is $0.25 a credit, or as a one-time pack, with 100 credits for $32, which is $0.32 a credit.

Test cadence advice
Its FAQ recommends weekly tests for active senders and daily tests when launching a domain, ramping volume or recovering from a reputation issue.

A target of 90%
Its FAQ calls an inbox placement rate of 90% or more healthy for cold email, 80 to 90% worth investigating, and below 80% a red flag.

The ESP gap, as an example
An illustration on the page contrasts a 98% delivery rate reported by a sending platform with 52% inbox placement, 510 inbox, 285 promotions and 185 spam out of 1,000. It is a sample picture, not a measured result.

What Mailivery does not say
We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.
- How many test accounts there are, who owns them and how they are spread across providers
- Whether one test uses one credit or one per provider
- Independent validation of its accuracy
- Which credit count applies to which plan, since two lists are shown
- Whether the sample numbers on the page come from real tests
- Where test results are kept and for how long
Where the sources disagree
We report each version rather than pick one.
- Credits: the pricing table lists 10, 30 and 100 placement tests, while its placement page FAQ lists 10, 50 and 250.
- Providers: the page names Yahoo, while its sample dashboard shows Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 only.
Only what we could verify.

What it means for you.
Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.
Mailivery's test is the more real measure
Until we add a dedicated seed list, a Warmerly score is a limited check. A test network of real inboxes is the better tool if placement is your main question.
Both are tests, not guarantees
A test shows one send at one moment. Neither promises where your next campaign lands.
Price of a credit
At Mailivery's one-time pack, 100 credits cost $32, so a test costs $0.32 if one test uses one credit, and $0.25 on the monthly pack. Its pages do not say whether a test uses one credit or one per provider, so the cost per test is not settled.
Starter allowance in a month
Warmerly's Starter allows 5 tests a month and Mailivery's Starter 10, which is one test every three days at Mailivery's rate. If you want a check after every DNS change, both fit; a weekly check is 4 or 5 tests a month.
The copy-paste case
If your campaigns go out from another tool, Mailivery's copy-paste mode lets you test the content without connecting it. Warmerly's test sends from a mailbox connected in Warmerly, so it fits mail you send from Warmerly.
What the label protects you from
A test that lands in our own mailboxes would show almost 100 whatever your real result. Labelling it Limited accuracy, and keeping it out of health, is the honest choice, and it also means you should not use a Warmerly score as proof of Gmail placement today.
Pick the one that fits.
Warmerly is the better fit if
- You want a placement score in the same app as warmup, and accept its limits
- You want the allowance by plan published
- You want a score tied to the mailbox and its warmup history
- You are comfortable that a test with our own mailboxes is labelled Limited accuracy
- You want the monthly allowance by plan stated in a table
Mailivery is the better fit if
- You want a test sent to real inboxes at five named providers
- You want copy-paste testing for mail sent from another tool
- You want a test sent to a network that covers named providers
- You want content scored for spam triggers in the same report
- You want to buy extra credits in a pack when you need more
Does Warmerly have a seed list?
Not yet. Its placement test falls back to its own warmup mailboxes, so the app labels the score Limited accuracy.
How many placement tests does Mailivery include?
10 on Starter, 30 on Professional and 100 on Business in its pricing table. Its placement page FAQ gives 10, 50 and 250.
How is a Warmerly placement score worked out?
Each target scores 100 for the inbox, 60 for Promotions, 10 for Spam and 0 if the message is missing, and the test shows the average.
How long does a Warmerly test take?
About 45 to 60 seconds on demand with four targets, because it waits 30 seconds before it checks. The daily sweep waits 90 seconds.
What does Mailivery call a good placement rate?
90% or more for cold email. It says 80 to 90% is worth investigating and below 80% needs attention.
