Placement test

One row, in depth: what each tool does, the verified numbers, and who each suits.

Mailwarm details read from its pricing page, home page, features page, SMTP warmup page and about page on 21 October 2026.

Warmerly

A placement test per mailbox; accuracy is limited, as there is no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet.

Mailwarm

Continuous inbox placement tests and spam score monitoring, as it states; no method is described.

The short answer

Placement test, in one look.

Warmerly runs a placement test per mailbox, and its accuracy is limited because it has no dedicated Gmail or Outlook seed list yet. Mailwarm says it runs continuous inbox placement tests around the clock and monitors spam score. On what each publishes, Mailwarm is ahead here. Last checked 22 October 2026.

How Warmerly does it

Warmerly, in detail.

A real test with a score per target, held back by where its targets are.

01

What a test does

It sends one message to up to 4 targets, waits 30 seconds on demand or 90 in the daily sweep, checks Inbox, Promotions, Spam and Junk over IMAP and scores each result.

02

No dedicated seed list yet

Real measurement needs seed mailboxes at Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo. The doc's check on 2026-10-15 found none in production, so every test falls back to Warmerly's own mailboxes.

03

Limited accuracy is shown

A fallback test scores close to 100 whatever the sender's real result, so the app labels it Limited accuracy and never uses it to change health.

04

Allowances

Free has 3 placement tests a month, Starter 5, Growth 25 and Agency 100.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

05

Where to run one

Accounts, open the mailbox, then the Health tab and the Inbox placement card, then Run new test. You can leave the page while it runs and the result is saved either way. Warmi can run one too, after asking for a yes.

06

How a result is scored

Each target scores 100 for inbox, 60 for promotions, 10 for spam and 0 if the message is missing, and the test shows the average with one dot per target mailbox.

07

What a test costs

Each test you start uses one monthly placement test, which resets on the 1st. A test that fails to run is handed back. Warmerly's own background tests do not use your allowance. You can buy extra with credits, and nothing is bought without a button that states the price.

08

Daily sweep

A daily sweep tests up to 5 accounts a run and skips any account tested in the last 24 hours. A run left in the running state for over 20 minutes is marked failed.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

09

A limited test never changes health

A test that fell back to Warmerly's own mailboxes never writes the health score and is left out of the spam score. It also cannot raise a mailbox's sending quota, which closes a loop where an inflated score would raise volume.

10

Seeds from the network exist but are switched off

The code can use consenting mailboxes of other customers in the warmup network as real targets. It is off by default, and the doc dated 15 October 2026 says it had not been run against production, so we do not count it.

11

Free checkers are separate

The domain health card checks SPF, DKIM, DMARC and blocklists on each mailbox, and the free tools check the same records for any domain with no account. Those checks are about setup, not placement.

What Mailwarm does not say

We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.

  • The test method, sample size and frequency
  • Which providers are seeded
  • Whether the dashboard figures are real

Where the sources disagree

We report each version rather than pick one.

  • Its features page shows inbox rates of 91% on average, with Gmail at 94%, Outlook at 88% and Yahoo at 91%; the page does not say these are real results, so we do not use them.
The numbers

Only what we could verify.

In practice

What it means for you.

Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.

1

Treat both with care

Warmerly labels a fallback test Limited accuracy and never uses it to change health. Mailwarm's dashboard figures look like examples and its page does not say otherwise.

2

Read a Warmerly result by its label

A result marked Limited accuracy went to Warmerly's own mailboxes, which accept almost everything. It will look good whatever the truth is. Do not use it to decide that a domain is safe. A result without that label went to independent targets.

3

Do not rely on example dashboards

Mailwarm's pages show tidy figures such as inbox rates by provider. They look like examples, and the page does not say they are real results. Ask for a live account view or your own test before you treat any of them as a measure.

4

Run a test before and after a change

The useful way to use a test on either tool is a comparison: run one before you change DNS or content and one after. Warmerly only reports a trend between two tests of the same kind, because comparing a limited run to a real one measures which targets were available.

5

A test is not a guarantee

A placement test shows where one message landed on one day. Mailwarm's own about page says it promises no guaranteed placement, and we say the same of ours.

6

Match the check to the question

If you ask whether your records are right, use the domain health card or a free checker. If you ask where mail lands, use a placement test. If you ask why a domain keeps failing, a person reading the data, as on Mailwarm's plans, may help more than either.

Who it suits

Pick the one that fits.

Warmerly

Warmerly is the better fit if

  • You want a clear label when a test is low in accuracy
  • You want a test scored per target and clearly labelled when it is low in accuracy
  • You want the allowance for tests stated on each plan
Mailwarm

Mailwarm is the better fit if

  • You want placement monitoring running all the time, as stated
  • You want spam score monitoring in every plan
  • You want placement and spam score monitoring running continuously in every plan
  • You want a person to read the results with you on a call
Questions
Does Mailwarm track inbox placement?

It says it runs inbox placement tests continuously and monitors spam score. It does not describe the method.

How does Warmerly test placement?

One message to up to 4 targets, checked over IMAP for Inbox, Promotions, Spam and Junk. With no dedicated seed list yet, tests fall back to Warmerly's own mailboxes and are labelled Limited accuracy.

What is Limited accuracy?

A label on a test that went to Warmerly's own warmup mailboxes because no independent seed mailboxes were available. It does not change health and is left out of the spam score.

Does Mailwarm publish how it tests placement?

No. Its FAQ says spam scores are usually based on seed testing across different providers. It gives no sample size, frequency or list of seeded providers.
