How Warmerly does it

Warmerly, in detail.

Scheduled record checks per mailbox, plus free report collection.

01

Checked every six hours

The records sweep runs every six hours across every mailbox that is not dead or paused. A Re-check now option is on the mailbox Health tab.

02

A written fix for each finding

Each finding has a title, an explanation and a fix. SPF is checked for the 10-lookup limit, DKIM for key length and test mode, DMARC for policy and reporting address.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

03

Unknown is never green

A check that could not run is shown as unknown, not as fine.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

04

Free DMARC report collection

Point your DMARC reporting address at a Warmerly address to see who sends as your domain and whether they pass, for up to 10 domains per workspace. Email digests and alerts for these reports are not built.

05

SPF is checked for quality, not just presence

Beyond whether a record exists, the check reads the all qualifier, counts the 10-lookup budget through include and redirect terms, and flags an ip4 or ip6 term that holds an address of the wrong family, which voids the record.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

06

DKIM key length and test mode

DKIM is checked for the RSA key length and for the t=y test-mode flag. A selector whose lookup errored gets one retry after five seconds before the result is called an error, since a cold query to a slow nameserver can overrun the first two-second budget.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

07

DMARC policy, subdomain policy, percentage and reports

The check reads p, sp and pct, and whether a reporting address is set. MX is checked as well, because a sending domain that cannot receive is a spam signal and warmup needs replies.

08

The record to paste

Under a failing SPF or DMARC chip the card shows the exact record: type, host, value and a copy button. SPF is suggested for Google and Microsoft mailboxes, merged into the record published now so the old terms stay and the provider is added before the all term. DMARC is suggested as monitor-only p=none when none exists.

09

Gmail and Outlook.com addresses are handled honestly

On a shared consumer domain the records belong to the provider, and Gmail signs with a rotating selector that cannot be discovered. So the card shows Connected, nothing to set up, instead of four failures, and the check is not alerted on.

10

Advisories never alert, and never turn a domain red

The sweep alerts only on a hard failure. One hard failure makes the verdict amber and two or more make it red. Most healthy domains publish p=none and sit at warn, and mailing all of them about something that did not change would teach people to ignore the alert.

Warmerly product, checked 21 October 2026

11

A stale check is not a pass

A check older than 48 hours, one that errored, or one where no list answered is shown as unknown on the sending-safety pill, never as OK. The records sweep itself runs every six hours.

05

An SPF checker that explains the failures

Its SPF checker is free, shows 10 checks remaining today, and reports pass or fail, the record and a suggested fix. It explains the 10-lookup limit, multiple SPF records, a +all or ?all ending, a missing include for your provider, and the difference between permerror and softfail.

06

A DMARC checker that explains the policy

Its DMARC checker fetches the record at the _dmarc name, checks syntax, policy and alignment with SPF and DKIM, and shows 10 checks remaining today. It explains p=none, quarantine and reject, the rua, ruf, pct, adkim and aspf tags, and says to start at none, read reports for a week or two, then tighten.

07

More record types in its deliverability test

Its test reports SPF, DKIM and DMARC with alignment to the From domain, and lists MX, PTR, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT and BIMI among the DNS records covered. It also gives a SpamAssassin score for the message. We did not find these record types described on its plan pages.

08

Authentication fix tools in plans

Its pricing page lists authentication fix tools on Starter, Growth and Scale, and its tool page says the account manager helps configure SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Neither says what the fix tools do.

09

SMTP and IMAP configuration checks

Its features page lists SMTP and IMAP configuration checks and shows a sample of 5 of 6 checks passed, with SMTP Config marked Review. Whether that sample is real data is not stated.

10

Do the basics first

Its SMTP page says warmup cannot fix a broken setup, so SPF, DKIM, reverse DNS and blacklist status should be checked first. A self-hosted server needs a PTR record that matches its hostname.

What Mailwarm does not say

We looked, and found no statement on these. That is about its published pages only, not about the product.

  • How often records are checked
  • Whether it sends alerts when a record breaks
  • What the fix tools do
  • How often a connected domain is re-checked
  • Whether a record change sends an alert
  • Whether the free checkers and the plan checks are the same code
  • Whether DMARC reports can be read inside the product

Where the sources disagree

We report each version rather than pick one.

  • The DMARC checker says at least one of SPF or DKIM must pass and align, while its bulk-sender section lists both, and the page treats them as separate rules.

Only what we could verify.

In practice

What it means for you.

Our reading of the facts above. Not a promise, and not the only reasonable reading.

1

Both point you at the basics

Mailwarm's SMTP page says warmup cannot fix a broken setup. Warmerly's checks give a written fix per finding, and unknown results are never shown as green.

2

Mailwarm covers more record types

Its deliverability test lists PTR, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT and BIMI, which Warmerly does not check on customer mailboxes. If your sending depends on reverse DNS on a self-hosted server, that is a real reason to run Mailwarm's free test or its SMTP guidance beside Warmerly.

3

Watching a record break

A change at your DNS host can break SPF at any hour. With a six-hour sweep, Warmerly reads it within about six hours and alerts on a hard failure. A free checker you visit tells you only what the record is when you visit, so it depends on you remembering to look.

4

The 10-lookup limit in numbers

A domain that includes Google, a mailing platform and a helpdesk can reach 10 lookups quickly, because nested includes count. Both tools explain the limit. Warmerly counts it on your published record and says when you are over, and Mailwarm's checker explains it and suggests removing unused includes or using ip4 ranges.

5

Move to p=none, then tighten

Both advise starting DMARC at p=none. Warmerly suggests that record when none exists, and adds free report collection for up to 10 domains per workspace, so you can see who sends as your domain before tightening. Its report digests and alerts are not built. Mailwarm's page tells you to read aggregate reports and does not say its product reads them.

6

Do the setup before warming a new domain

Mailwarm's own pages say a new domain can score well on authentication and still land in spam without a few weeks of warmup, and that warmup cannot repair a broken setup. Fix the records first, then warm.

Who it suits

Pick the one that fits.

Warmerly

Warmerly is the better fit if

  • You want a check every six hours with the fix written out
  • You want the exact record written out under a failing check, merged into your current SPF
  • You want a hard failure to reach you by email without a visit to a page
Mailwarm

Mailwarm is the better fit if

  • You want free checkers and generators alongside the service
  • You want PTR, MTA-STS, TLS-RPT and BIMI covered in a free test
  • You want long written guidance on SPF, DKIM and DMARC beside each checker
Questions
Does Mailwarm check SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

Its features page lists SPF, DKIM and DMARC validation, and its plans list authentication fix tools. It does not say how often.

Does Mailwarm check MTA-STS and TLS-RPT?

Its free deliverability test lists MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, BIMI and PTR among the DNS records it covers (mailwarm.com/email-deliverability-test, read 22 October 2026). Warmerly does not check them on customer mailboxes.

Why does Warmerly show Connected, nothing to set up on a Gmail address?

On a shared consumer domain the records belong to the provider, and our reading of them would be unreliable, so we do not show false failures for something you cannot change.

Can I see DMARC reports in Warmerly?

Yes, free for up to 10 domains per workspace, by pointing your DMARC reporting address at a Warmerly address. Email digests and alerts for these reports are not built.
