Run Cold Email From Claude or ChatGPT: What Works and What Stays Manual
You can ask Claude or ChatGPT to find leads, write a sequence, check your DNS and draft replies inside Warmerly. It cannot start a campaign for you. Here is the whole workflow.

In this article
You can run most of a cold email workflow from Claude or ChatGPT by connecting Warmerly's MCP server: the assistant can search for leads, create a draft campaign and write its sequence, check a domain's SPF, DKIM and DMARC, run a placement test, and draft replies to your inbox. It cannot start or resume a campaign. Warmerly returns a readiness check and a link, and you press Launch yourself, so nothing is mailed until you decide.
How to connect Claude or ChatGPT to Warmerly
- Add https://app.warmerly.com/api/mcp as a custom connector. In claude.ai that is Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. In ChatGPT it is Settings, Apps & Connectors, with Advanced or Developer mode turned on if you do not see the option to add an MCP server.
- Sign in with your normal Warmerly login when prompted. There is no API key and no add-on, and it works on every plan, including Free.
- On the consent screen, choose One workspace (the default) or All my workspaces. You can see and revoke each connection under Settings, Connected apps.
ChatGPT's connector option depends on your ChatGPT plan; if you do not see it, it is not enabled on yours. Claude Code and Cursor connect to the same address, and the setup steps for each are in the Warmerly docs.

What the assistant can do in Warmerly
| Job | What the assistant can do | What stays with you |
|---|---|---|
| Find leads | Search Warmerly's lead database with a plain-English query, count matches, and add them or your own list to a campaign | Adding leads sends nothing; the lead export allowance on your plan still applies |
| Build a campaign | Create a draft campaign and set its sequence of steps | Reading the sequence before anything goes out |
| Launch | Check the campaign is ready and return the link to it | Pressing Launch or Resume in Warmerly. No tool can start sending |
| Deliverability | Check SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX for any domain, read a mailbox's health history, run a placement test, turn warmup on or off | Fixing DNS records at your registrar |
| Replies | List conversations, draft a reply, label a message as lead, not relevant or spam | Approving the exact message; a reply is sent only after you approve it |
| Mailbox setup | Give you the link to connect a mailbox | Entering mailbox credentials yourself; they never pass through the AI app |
Why it cannot launch a campaign
Warmerly has no tool that starts or resumes a campaign, and it will not get one. An assistant that can find leads and launch a campaign could mass-mail people who never opted in. So the assistant prepares the campaign and gets a readiness check and the campaign's link, and a person presses Launch. We think that is the right limit for cold email: an assistant can do the preparation, and a person takes responsibility for the send.

The guardrails that apply to every call
- The same plan limits and quotas as the dashboard. A call is refused under the conditions a dashboard click would be.
- The billing lock applies. If the workspace is locked, anything that sends or changes something is refused, while reading and actions that reduce activity, such as pausing a campaign, still work.
- The suppression list is enforced. A reply sent through the assistant never reaches an address that unsubscribed or bounced.
- Rate limits per connection, with a tighter budget for anything that sends.
- Every change an assistant makes is recorded in the workspace's audit log with the app's name.
Four prompts worth starting with
Warmerly ships four ready-made prompts that clients show as slash commands: an account checkup, reply triage, a campaign launch walk-through and a deliverability check. Each one ends by asking you to confirm before it sends, launches or adds leads. For Claude, Warmerly also publishes four skills (launch outreach campaign, deliverability doctor, reply triage and transactional email setup) in an open-source plugin.
Not sure where to start? Ask the assistant to give your workspace a checkup and tell you what is missing. It reads your plan, mailboxes and setup gaps and lists what to fix first.
When this is not the right tool
If you want an assistant that sends a whole campaign unattended, Warmerly will not do that by design. MCP also needs a Claude or ChatGPT setup that allows custom connectors, so check your plan on the AI side first. And an assistant is only as good as the lead list and the offer you give it.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude or ChatGPT send cold emails through Warmerly?
Not on its own. An assistant can create a draft campaign and prepare it, but it cannot start or resume sending. Warmerly gives you a readiness check and a link, and you press Launch. It can send a reply to an existing conversation, but only after you approve the exact message.
Does the Warmerly MCP server work on the free plan?
Yes. There is no API key or add-on, and it is available on every plan, including Free. Your plan's normal limits still apply to what the assistant does.
How do I connect Warmerly to ChatGPT?
In ChatGPT go to Settings, Apps & Connectors, turn on Advanced or Developer mode if needed, add a new MCP server with the URL https://app.warmerly.com/api/mcp and sign in with your Warmerly account. Whether the option appears depends on your ChatGPT plan.
Can I stop an assistant from accessing my account?
Yes. Each connection is listed under Settings, Connected apps in Warmerly, where you can revoke it. A connection is limited to one workspace unless you choose All my workspaces.
